IKEA Reviews

Review by Roxy J:

It is obvious from most of these reviews that people had no idea what IKEA (as a store) is like. ALL IKEA stores have people moving in the same direction throughout the store. There are lots of shortcuts though, and I personally can make it through the maze in under twenty minutes (you just have to look at a map people!).

Check online before you come in to see if the items are in stock – or better yet, call ahead and make sure! I do this anyway when I want something from a store and will have to drive all the way to get it. And none of the items in the self-serve warehouse are over 60lbs, which is why some items come in multiple packages.

The items range from lower-end to high quality – it just depends on how much you want to pay. And if you don’t want to have to put the furniture together yourself, guess what? They have a service where someone will build it for you.

I went yesterday and it was DEAD. Hardly anyone in the store. It was actually quite nice. The parking garages were less full, it was easy to maneuver the store, and employees were everywhere! Which was great, because I had several questions about a variety of things.

The check outs were so fast – I was so surprised! It was great and fast and efficient. Also, home delivery was helpful. So was one of the guys in the self serve warehouse. He helped push a cart for us and held our items while we went around and filled another cart with boxes. Yay!

I have two – or three – big complaints. First, it is sooooo hot in here. Why?! Get that air working, I thought I was going to pass out! Second, the restaurant is just ‘meh.’ I would rather wait until I am finished shopping. Third, every employee I encountered was GREAT except one. I wanted a pillow, and asked if there were any around the store. One of the employees called around and was told that there were none. He still suggested that I go look though, he was skeptical of this person’s answer. So I used the shortcuts and found my way into the living room area. Lo and behold, there were many of these pillows just sitting in a cart. If I hadn’t been told to go check for myself, I would have been really unhappy about this whole thing (and I still sort of am).

All in all, go during the week. Great prices, fun products, great and helpful staff (except for the parking people, but I don’t think they work for IKEA).

A Customer Service Disaster – Stay Away!!! I drove to Ikea August 1st from Boulder and decided to buy a Sultan bed, foundation & legs. The sales person upstairs told me the bed was in stock. I went down to the warehouse and it turns out the bed was in stock, but way up high on a rack. They won’t take anything down until the store is closed and all customers out…so they told me I could come back at 9pm (!!!) to pick up the bed. I paid for the bed and it was to be “picked” off the rack and delivered the next day. Next day I got a call from the delivery service saying they didn’t have the bed. Same thing happened again the following day. Here it is August 15th and I still don’t have the bed. Few observations: a majority of the people working there are college age kids who are completely clueless about customer service and obviously have had little or no training. It’s almost impossible to find a responsible party (such as a manager) who has the authority to make decisions or the ability to answer questions. Try contacting …

Worst shopping experiene of life, pathetic customer service I ordered a vreta sectional from IKEA on the 28th July found that one piece was missing, I called IKEA and asked them the give me the another piece. I received the missing piece after a couple of days only to find out that the color of the two pieces was different and the first piece was defective. I again requested IKEA to get that stuff back as I don’t want the mismatched and defective pieces. I was told it will be picked up within a week, after more than a week the truck guy called me and told me that he will pick up the sectional from my house at 5 pm, I waited and called him at 5.30 pm, I was told at that time that it will be picked up at on Thursday 11Aug at 7 pm, after waiting for another couple of hours I called back and I was told that the pickup was cancelled for the day. I never received a call to inform me that there has been a change of plan. I visited the store multiple times, the person with whom I speak have no rights and knows very less, when I ask for supervisor, he she is never available. I called customer care about 30 times..I’m serious 30 times, every time I call they say they will inform the trucking company about my case and they will call me, still waiting for the call. God knows what happens to my $2000

It’s busy, what does anyone expect. It’s brand new, with thousands of new employees that haven’t had the experience of answering all of the questions that I’m sure you’ve spent hours going over. If you are adult enough to write a review about your horrible experience(s), then you should be adult enough to understand how store openings go. Don’t be naive… I thought the store was fantastic and there is an over-abundance of staff to be able help. Just be open-minded, understanding and gracious.

The people that knock a place for customer service obviously are entitled people that don’t know what service is all about. Go back to California.
